I really think that is unneccesary, unless this is a VERY old

I looked up the power block in the unit. It has rectifier diodes rated at
20 A continuous, and 400 A surge, I think. The output current per line is
3.3 A. This thing is rated to run at full load in a 50 C ambient with only
convection cooling. Some quick calculations indicated the diodes would
be within rating, and I'm running it at much lower temperatures. When I
run my high speed spindle at 400 Hz, the inverter warms up just a little,
so i put a small fan on it. I'm glad to not have the added noise of
an idler motor.

I really think that is unneccesary, unless this is a VERY old
cycloconverter, rather than a true inverter. I'm using mine on single
phase input, although the manufacturer does not indicate that can be done.
