I rather suspect that most of the lurkers are somewhat reluctant to show
their lack of knowledege on the subject. I've been a lurker plenty of times
myself in areas where I don't feel particularly competent..
Perhaps if you lurkers were to give the group an idea of what it is that you
would like to accomplish we could give a little more focused help.
No one starts out knowing all this stuff... All learning is an incremental
process and builds on the knowledge base one already has. Each piece of
information assimilated makes the acquisition of more knowledge that much
easier. I'm finding now at 49 years old that many things that were once
difficult or impossible for me to understand now come much more easily.
I've been variously a clockmaker (with my dad, starting at about age 10), an
electronics tech in the Marine Corps,a silversmith, a pipefitter in the
oilfield, a commercial electrician, a cable TV technician, a computer geek, a
polisher in a chrome shop and about 10 or 15 other trades that I'm too lazy
and forgetful to mention.
Each time I've started a new trade, the learning process has gone faster.
Ferinstance, I was an electrician after being a pipefitter and found that
many of the skills I picked up as fitter transferred very well to commercial
electrical work, much of which involves the bending and fitting of conduit...
Take Care, Folks...
