From my recollection of discussions with Mariss, postings, and emails on the
subject.
The G201 is a distributor only item. You can buy them directly from Mariss,
but it is at the full retail price ($199 each, $191 in 2 - 5 quantity) to
protect the distributors. The other drives (G210a, G320, G340) are factory
direct items at $99 each or $129 each depending upon the model. Mariss did
have a period when he offered the G201 at the 1000 price of $99 as a trial
about 1-1/2 years ago.
My complaint with this particular distributor is that he is using a URL that
intentionally makes people think he is the factory and his website furthers
this misunderstanding. He then sells the drives that are openly available
factory direct at a steep markup. He is entitled to charge what he wants,
but when he gets this because he has deceived people into believing they are
dealing with the factory and getting the best price I have a problem.
