Yes, EMC can run step and direction mode open loop (that is what most people
do). It drives the Gecko G320/340 units just fine. I would suggest you use
steppermod.o instead of freqmod.o in this application. You can also set up
the system to dual boot between DOS and Linux or you could just make a DOS
boot floopy and boot on that if you want to run CNC Pro.
Check out www.Linuxcnc.org for some documentation on EMC.
