There are hackers that delight in cracking into people's accounts
on VeriSign (formerly Network Solutions) that assigns the network
names for .org, .com, etc. Through the account at VeriSign (and
other similar operations) the owner of a site can select the numerical
IP address that domain name servers worldwide point your browser
to when you ask for a site by name (ie. http://www.abc.com).
If they can get in, they change your assignment to their abominable
porn site. I haven't had this happen to me, but it seems to be a
problem some people are having.
