Derek,
The Big Porter Cable is a good router. It will walk all over my Bosch when it
comes right down to it. I used one at an old employer and considered it for my
cnc router. But, I recall that thing to be a heavy monster and pretty noisy. In
fact it was the least used router as everyone grabbed the dewalt plunge routers
as they were lighter and Variable Speed. When I went to the local woodworker
store and listened to the bosch run, (quiet) I was impressed. I was also
impressed with its small profile top cap/cover. I was not so impressed with the
size of the top portion of the Porter Cable as it hung out over the base area
where I would need to make a mount for on my router. I feel the closer I can
keep the spindle center to the axis the better. If you have been to my website,
you may have seen the Dewalt Trim Router in a mount. Replacing it with the Bosch
only moved the spindle out about a quarter inch, the Porter would have been at
least 3/4" best I can tell.
So based on the size of my router at home, the bosch was the ticket.

But, I picked up an old 6' X 10' Digital Tool router for the shop and that one,
when I get to it, it probably will have the big 3+ hp Porter Cable.
