Hi Wayne,

You might try hooking up the +5 and gnd, and looking at the pins to find
the A & B phases. If you can write a simple program in BASIC, you can
run it on a PC, and have it display the pulses from one of the phases.
Put a knob on the shaft (with a pointer), and rotate 10 turns. The
count will thus be 10x, and you have the resolution of the encoder.
