Hello Tom,
Finally an electric cuestion out of my experience.
Generally if you have both options you use the motor at 240V on delta
and 440V on star connection. Only if it says exclusively 440V Star/delta
then you have a motor you start in star and later switch it to delta for
not to have such a high initial current.
Connection: RST=incoming line, UVW=coils
Star 440V:
R-U1
S-V1
T-W1
W2-U2-V2
Connection 240V Delta:
R-U1-W2
S-V1-U2
T-W1-V2
You are generally surposed to have the high line (208V to ground)
in red on S and in order to switch the direction of turning
you switch the lines R and T.
