Yes, because in many cases CNC programs are created by CAD/CAM
systems. if your machine control uses standard G-code, many CAD/CAM
programs can generate the correct code with minimal tinkering.

If you have an oddball system, standard CAM software like Bobcad/CAM
won't work, and you will be limited in choice of CAD/CAM. If you NEVER
want to use CAD/CAM, but will ALWAYS program parts directly in
the proprietary control's language by hand, then it doesn't matter, as
long as the manufacturer's programming manual is readable. Note that
some definitely are NOT readable.
