I've got Norton AV and personal firewall installed. I get immediate
messages when some one tries to attack my computer. All you need to do to
find out where the virus is coming from is click on "details and the
software will tell you the ISP address of the ORIGINATING COMPUTER
(including the port number of the machine.
My niece and I were getting attacked several times a day for a while. One
day the individual doing the attacking tried getting back into her computer
thru ICQ. BIG mistake! She was then not only able to get the ISP numbers,
but got the guys name and a bunch of other important details.
After she took all the info to the police, who contacted the FBI, the
attacks stopped...or at least they have for now. So, if you can get the ISP
of the originating computer and it happens more than once coming from the
same source, take the info to the FBI.
