If that corner were square cut rather than radiused it would cause a
stress concentration. The resulting stress will be considerably higher
than just the loss of the material would lead you to believe. This is
important under fatigue situtations, i.e. repeated loads or vibration.
Aluminum is not a great material under these conditions. SO, without
knowing the loads and/or testing a lot, I'd keep the radius. Likewise,
if this is a highly stressed part you may want to pick the same type of
aluminum they used.
