1. Mount a small block on the rotary table.
2. Mount one of the indicators to register movement of this block.
3. Mount the second indicator to register movement of the handle used to
rotate the table.
4. Back off the handwheel to remove all backlash.
5. Zero the indicators
6. Rotate the handwheel until the indicator for the table moves some
distance
7. Write down the figures from both dials.
Now, if you've mounted the indicators as a known distance from the
centerlines of the handwheel and the rotary table and you know the
worm/wheel ratio of the table, a little bit of math will give you your
backlash information with a good degree of accuracy.
