The discussion was about a current-limiting resistor on the output
side of the rectifier to limit current at initial start-up.

Want something even faster? If a DC cooling fan is connected across
the power supply, the voltage will drop to zero faster than you can
say "ah!" Only trouble, is where to find a DC fan rated at the same
voltage as the power supply. I have only seen 24VDC fan at the shops,
and at much higher prices than AC fans.
