Paul,
I have version 16.1 of Bobcad, I wiped it off my system a long time
ago, it didn't work for me, and there was no backup or support here
in the UK. The Cad was very clumsy, and the Gcode always needed a lot
of editing and cutting and pasting, a lot of the time it was quicker
to program manually.
I haven't used version 17 so I cannot tell you if there are major
improvements from 16.1, but there have been quite a few postings both
here and on other newsgroups which haven't been very flattering about
the product.
As to whether the cost makes this an attractive product.........
I am sure some people do make some use of the system, the trouble is
I've been spoilt, I use Dolphin CadCam and they have a cracking deal
at the moment for users of this newsgroup, you can find details on
this deal and the web site address in message 34819
