I may be jumping in here without knowing the full background of the
thread, but the error due to step quantatization is not cumulative,
unless your system misses steps now and then, which is a problem you
really should fix no matter what the step size. Think of it just like
rounding a decimal place off all your numbers - the error is local
only.
