Hi,
I use 1/4-20 threaded rod. Make your nut out of Delrin plastic.
Tap it with a good quality tap. There will be next to no backlash
if you use a 1/2" piece of Delrin. Kleinbauer's PCBmill uses 1/4-20
threaded rod. His design uses a floating nut. I bought the plans
you should too! I drop by his place now and again. He has two new
CNC machines coming. Great hobby mills to learn on and easy to
build.
