Dan, I did quite a bit of research over the years looking for just
what you describe. I found a company in Germany at one time that had
about a dozen TT stroke fonts. They wanted something like $150 for
the set. Unfortunately they would never answer e-mails and did not
have enough info to order from the US. (all prices in German DM
and ). That's why there is now a Vfontz and Vcarvz. Vfontz will
create a centerline toolpath from most tru-type fonts. It calculates
the depth to cut with a V-tipped cutter for a given width of letter
and also draws the tip up into sharp corners to create the exact
outline of the font at the surface of the material. Vcarvz does the
same, but can also cut around the letters to relieve a background
designed in another program and saved as a DXF. With either program
you can engrave script style fonts and also any foreign characters.

Vfontz requires Vector, and Vcarvz can also save a dxf file as a
toolpath.
