The MaxNC digitizing probe has a tripod of contacts on two opposing
plates... one plate is fixed to the body, the other is lightly sprung loaded
against the first and has the probe mounted to it... the three contact sets
are wired in series, so any angular deflection cocks the plate and opens the
circuit...
