A friend of mine manufactures boxes for ultrasonic cleaning on a lens
machine out of 1/2" acrylic, he to ran into a check cracking problem, but it
has turned out to be unavoidable. They also tried polycarbonite, it was
worse, so I'm going to guess your check cracks may be due to the vibrations
or if you glue any pieces together could be a cause. If your bent on clear
you might take a look at PET or if ABS clear is available in rod stock,
other wise the suggestion about delrin would be a good choice.
