and maybe even machine structure to counter it.
There may be theoretical models for cutting force, but I'd be more
tempted to determine it experiementally somehow - in the case of axis
drive requirements, say replacing a handhweel with a small drum and
using a string and weights to apply a torque.
Of course doing experiments with a running cutter requires extreme
care to insure that the cutter can't grab the work, the force
application mechanism (string, whatever) or the operator!
