3-axis wire-bending?

Some months ago I tripped across a company Web site that advertised
CNC wire-bending (I've been unable to find the page once more). The
bending tool resembled a large drill chuck/head, wire advanced thru
the center, and pushrods (?) at the correct moment would extend and
bend the wire in the correct direction at the correct degree.

Has anyone any idea how to proceed creating something similar at home?
Or suggest what materials I should read as an introduction to this
kind of computer-servo control?
