Hi Mariss,
My FIRST CHOICE would be a set of screw terminals, like you have on the
Gecko's. Makes it easy for someone to wire up a DB25 (or whatever)
connector ANY way they want (DeskNC module does this)!
After that, a DB25 would be OK, but what pinout? I like one of MaxNC's
:
* pin function
* 1 m3 output
*
* 2 X step, 3 X dir,
* 4 Y step, 5 Y dir
* 6 Z step, 7 Z dir.
* 8 A step, 9 A dir,
*
* 10 limit sw pos
* 11 input for m6 (tool change?)
* 12 limit sw neg
*
* 13 G31 switch
*
* 14 m4 output
* 15 panic input
* 16 m7 output
* 17 m8 output
*
* 18 all sig grounds, 19-25 nc
These of course correspond to the parallel port pin assignments.
But I know EMC and others like the step/dir pins reversed to this!
Notice Panic, limits, sensor, and tool change status lines (some mine).
Status should be available back through your "black box" (IMO).
Rutex module uses a DB37, so (for example) there I need a DB37 to DB25
translation cable.
I also make a DB25 to DB25 translation cable for EMC!
A coaxial power connector for a wall wart would be fine (5V?). Here I
have a cable that gets power from the PC (joystick connector etc.).
