Hello Mariss,
I am assembling a controller right now using your fabulous Geckos, deskwinnc
and Alan Rothenbush's error controller. Here are some observations which
might help yer black box design...
I presume your black box will plug straight into your G400 devices ;) so I'd
think a ribbon header which plugs straight into the G400 would be nice.
Quick to swap out a bad unit etc.
And on your new G400, please put the adjustment pots on the side so they can
be mounted beside a hole in the panel to allow adjustment without opening
the enclosure.
That is, unless your PID routine is software based and auto-learns accel and
damping or is software controllable (hint hint) - so all the G400 really
needs to be is a power DAC!
But specifically for the axis to external world connection, perhaps a D15? 2
pair for motor + -, 4 for encoder, 2 for home input, 2 for estop (normally
closed), +12 and 2 grounds.
And, wall warts are really not likely to be used because any reasonable
assembly will be in an enclosure; a nice switcher will fit in there quite
easily. Put it on .156 centers, and if it 'just so happens' to mate to a
standard PC supply all the better! ;)
want more suggestions?
