I'm constantly frustrated by the "quote" process for off the shelf
parts. For instance, Pittman motors has a Pittman Express catalog of
in stock, same day shipping motors. BUT it takes at least a day to
get a PRICE, at least via email. I asked for a price list,
but "sorry, we don't have one." Yeah.

As a mechanical engineer, I have to look at the cost/benefit ratio,
not spec out my ideal motor and pay whatever it costs.

Sounds like custom extrustions are in the same category as custom
plastic injection moldings.

There MAY be an opportunity here. Way back when, there was a student
who would take orders for say 100 of a particular electronic
componant, buy the 100 at the quantity discount and pass most of the
savings to his customers and get his parts for "free".

BTW, Dave, you mentioned that you are in NJ... Whereabouts? I'm up
north in Warren County.
