EMC will probably not work on the laptop. Not because it is a laptop, but
because it is a 486. There have been a number of people that have tried to
get the real time kernel to work with 486s, but the ultimate solution for
everyone has been to go to a Pentium class machine (Intel or AMD, some
people have had problems with Cyrix).
You may want to look at DeskNC and CNCPro. Both of these run under DOS. I
have used both DeskNC and EMC and think EMC is a better program, but if the
hardware is not up to the requirements of RT Linux and EMC I would say that
DeskNC is worth looking at. There are a number of people on this mailing
list that are getting good results with CNCPro.
