I agree with you.

A voice conversation has certain obvious advantages.
But the power of the written word does too... a record.
Members can check archives of written posts at any time
to educate themselves.

It's funny but the LACK of technology really created a
modern renaissance in the written word! In general that
has been a great thing. The information is there for anyone to
study at any time.

So....
If this works and a chat subject is on topic and of general
interest or profound or something we should probably make note of it in
writing.

P.S.
FWIW, I met my wife on a internet voice chat from a thousand
miles away! We went from voice to written posts most of the time. So it kind
of works out.
