I ditto that; as I often have interruptions when I am trying to read the
mail, much less trying to maintain a sense of what is going on in a chat
channel. Also, as has been stated previously, there is the subject of
archives. There have been to many times that I have glossed over a thread
as it did not particularly interest me at the time. However, a few days or
weeks later, it has. With the archives that I maintain, I can go back and
review all the important information that was presented and not have to ask
stupid questions about a subject that was hashed out just a few days ago:-})
The subject of time zones has also been mentioned and from the off list
mail that I have received on some subjects, it would be almost impossible
to be on line 24 hours a day to be able to handle some of these questions.
(Unfortunately I still work for a living to be able to feed my fat face and
hobbies:-})
