W/O getting into soldering certification and strain-relief engineering, I
think we can carefully solder our connections with minimal wicking, and then
use suitable strain-relief to avoid a flex-concentration where the cable
enters the connector body. For our home machines, I'm not worried at all
about it. Now if I were in production it would be a different story for many
reasons. Interesting thread about wire sizes and connectors, though. I'm
leaning towards 18 or 20 gauge, 4 conductor, stranded, foil shield with
drain wire for my NEMA 42 mill/drill setup. Cable lengths will be about 2
meters.
