Lunch isn't ready yet.
Here we go.
Nicolas started the project to close the gap between hobby controls and
industrial controls. At certain point he couldn't go backwards anymore
because he had invested too much already.
He uses a field programable gate array that interpolates the trace and
produces the step and direction signals. This way he takes load of the
mainCPU and reaches step frequencies up to 16 MHz and is able to use
encoders with high resolution with out limiting the maximum speed.
he uses a Motorola ColdFire-Prozessor of the type MCF5206e. It has a
calculation potencial of some 20MIPS at 32MHz choping frequency and 32
Bit Buswidthe and a lot of other features like integrated
DRAM-Controller, UARTs, Timer, Chipselectlogik etc..
