I am NOT a DOS-whiz, but I did a similar change where a "Pentium" starts up
with GWBASIC (monochrome, typing-only, on monitor). You go into DOS, type
EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT, and when that is there, put the letters "REM" in front of
whatever it calls "Windows" there. Probably "WIN" or the like. That way, it
will SKIP windows set up. I THINK.

In MY case, I had NO reason at al to retain the (old WIN 386) in my
"DOS-BASIC-ONLY" computer, so I carefully DELeted all WINdows files, taking
care not do mess up DOS. I added GWBASIC from a 3½. Been three years, now,
so I have admittedly forgotten every "DOS DETAIL" (sounds like something a
rabbit owner would do to a show-bunny!). Anyway, it's in AUTOEXEC.BAT. Be
careful, cause a single "." or "," error can 'total" the computer! You would
need to reboot EVERYTHING, and I BET yoy don't have the step-by-step for all
that!!! Wot?
