I have been collaborating with John S over converting Vertex rotary tables
- I have one of their 4.25" diam tables, John has one of the 6" (see his
earlier posts). They are designed to take the same mounting for an optional
set of division plates & indexing arm; whip off the handwheel & there's a
boss ready pre-tapped for three 5mm screws on a 30mm diam circle (this
normally takes the division plate mounting screws). John machined up a
couple of motor mounts that screw on in place of the division plate - add
an Oldham coupling & a stepper motor, preferably around 200 oz-in (I
currently have a 120 oz-in motor on my 4.25" table - its OK for doing
indexing moves, but it would need more power if you planned on cutting
during a move. John has a 200 oz-in motor on his), and away you go. Not
terribly hard to do.
