Unless you edit things all over the code, I don't think you can change
all the file names. The run file is what you invoke by name (or screen
icon) to activate EMC, so you can use any name you like, as long as
you then call it by that name to activate it. This run file connects all
the software components to the .ini file by name, so you can use any
name you like, as long as the .run file has the name of the .ini file
in it, in the line that reads INIFILE=filename.ini

But, the other files, (xxx.var, xxx.nml, xxx.tbl) should have the names
emc.var, emc.nml, emc.tbl to be used by emc. (In general, you shouldn't
need to modify these files outside of EMC anyway, so using the standard
names shouldn't cause much of a problem.) My understanding, unless
things have been changed (possible, since I still use an old version of
EMC) is that these files are always used as emc.var, emc.nml, and emc.tbl

You should have a file emc.tbl, but it is not critical, anyway - it is the table
of tool lengths and diameters.
