I've been running an ATI Rage Pro 128 for a couple of years now -
never had a problem with it even with Protel, until XP - it destoys
XP's help system!! I think you'll find it's Protel that's "buggy"
rather than ATI.

Early S3 cards were rubbish, are Trident still going? They were about
the only VGA card available on the transition from EGA/CGA.
