The "classic" method for joining timing belt ends is to press them with screws
between to metal plates, a profiled one for the active side and a flat one for
the back. The profile is, of course, the same as the belt teeth. The width is
the same as the belt's and the length of the plates has to pass over a few
teeth each side. The disadvantage of this sistem is that it is only usable for
alternative movements because the plates can't pass over the pulleys. There are
a few belt manufacturers who sell this kind of parts.
A cheaper method is to use a piece of your belt instead the profiled plate and
two flat plates to hold the assembly together.
I'm not sure if this is what you need, for continuous movement (as conveyors)
I'm afraid you need belts special designed for joining.
