Hi,
I have a Harrison 280 CNC/Manual. This machine has a gearbox for thread
cutting under manual control but also uses an eight position tool changer on
the cross-slide so it has no top-slide to off-set by half the thread angle.
In CNC mode the machine uses a one bit encoder mounted on the spindle and
provided a cutting tool with less than the included angle of the thread is
used a perfect thread is formed. e.g if the thread is a 60 degree included
angle a tool of less than 50 degrees can be used to cut the thread. I use a
35 degree tool because this is included in the tool list and I haven't
worked out how to program different tools yet.
Regards,
Terry
