First, you have to determine the type of servo motor on this machine.
If it is an AC servo, the current Gecko servo drive will not run it. Mariss
is working on an AC drive, but I don't think it will be ready for a while.
Check what servo amps are in the unit. If they take +/- 10 V velocity
command signals, you can use a Servo-to-Go card or my parallel port
motion control card set (see http://pico-systems.com/PPMC.html
for more info) to drive it. Most likely, the servo amps are just boxes
inside the control cabinet. Also, find out what type of position feedback
it has (linear encoder, shaft encoder, or resolver). Shaft encoders may
be inside the servo motors, or separate.
