Thats "andrew" terminology I think:)

I mean The ability to send acceleration, velocity, position, and pid
setup data, to what ever location you chose to do the pid loop calcs from.
This data could go over par.port, serial port, pci, isa, what ever works.
The pc should also recieve position data back from this unit. This I think
would be minimum.

Step and Direction data is a Workable method to control a servo axis, but
it is not a direct link. You are fooling the servo into making moves, when
as far as the servo knows its just trying to hold position as best it can.

The servo to go board is great!, but I dont have 800+ to spend.

To your knowledge how many folks are working on alternatives to the stg
board for emc? I know there are a few.
