One possiblity is that the step and direction signals have been switched,
so you have step output going to direction in, and direction out going to
step in. So, check out the cable wiring between the parallel port and the
G201 drivers. Another possibility is the way the ground terminals are
connected from the parallel port to the +5 V supply in the driver box,
if it is set up that way.
