Everything in Unix is user based, if it's not an individual user, it's
running as root which is not a good general purpose id.

The simple answer would be to set up an id that launches emc once you
login to it. You can run a X login like xdm instead of starting X from
the user level so the system comes up with X and you'd type emc in
response to the user prompt. You can leave off a password if you're
not worried about security.

Having the emc screen come up completely automatically is possible
(EVERYTHING is possible with Unix), but it might take a little work.
