OK, well, the MBM is better than a backup battery that will only hold data
for a week or so. He still ought to have/make a backup of the executive and
all parameter and setup info in case the MBM ever fails, or gets overwritten
by accident.

When you say ROM board, is the executive always in ROMS? That would make
it pretty hard to lose the executive, at least. The parameters could probably
be entered manually in half an hour or so, if you needed to.
