Hi, Dave:

Not only is it possible, but TurboCNC 3.1 provides G33 as a code to perform
the operation. You mount an "index" sensor on your headstock spindle so the
function can calculate both the RPM and also sync the headstock and
tailstock positions.

Since my only CNC tool is a Sherline mill, I've not been able to verify how
well it works.

|Is it possible to drive a lathe leadscrew using CNC, rather than via
|the change gears? I know that this would also require a way to get
|the spindle RPMS. But it seems like this would give you far more
|flexibility of standard/metric thread pitches, as well as simply finer
|control of feed rates for general turning, than is possible with
|change gears.
