At the time I finally discovered the cause of my problems, (late
Saturday evevning)I could not have found a ready made parallel port
buffer and I was DETERMINED to get that unit working! Given a choice
between buying and building a little buffer amp, I would have
normally picked the buy option. My time off is more valuable to me
than my working hours and I want to spend it doing things that I
enjoy..like making chips. As for delay it would be in the
nanoseconds range and the wave shape (on/off times) tracks the input
signal. The waveform improved a lot by taking the load off the
parallel port. Everything was nice and square with sharp rise and
fall times.
