I might be a little closer than you. I've got a large servo mill up
and running with Gecko's (love 'em) and am in the process of doing a
conversion from cncpro to XP/Master5. There is a small bug in Mach1
that is preventing me from using it yet but I know Art will fix it.

On the 5 axis front I got a steal on a 10" Chinese rotary tilting
table. That gives me my a and b axis. My mill has enough swing to
give me a 4" diameter by 30" envelope which should do a proof of
concept.

Models are easy. My big concern is generating G-code. I've tried a
fair number of high end packages (demos, which I could never afford)
and haven't found anything that even looks close. I code and so if I
could get intermediate code I could probably do a post... eventually.

Have you given any thought to which CAM package you might use?
