Hi Jason:
The standard way for all the guys I know is to swipe a premade post and
diddle it by trial and error until you get it to output the correct code for
your machine.
Sometimes you can luck out and pull a useable post off the net...that's what
I did for my Haas.
MasterScam provides a bunch of workable posts that will run many of the
standard controllers out there.
For example, if your controller uses a variant of Fanuc you are in luck.
You REALLY have to watch it though: some of these posts do VERY WEIRD
THINGS!!!
The stock MasterScam Haas post takes tool#2, puts it exactly where tool#1
left off, and then rapids to the start point of the code for tool #2.
Scared me right out of my gonchies the first time it did it to me, and
snapped a 1/4" ballcutter off against the side of the job.
That's when I started trolling the net for a better post, and found a
simplified educational one that has been rock solid so far (touch wood!!!)
It really rots my socks though, that the MasterScam boys are making post
writing a proprietary secret and scamming the working guy this way.
It IS a great CAM program though, so I swallow my pride and work with it.
Cheers
Marcus
