Mark! An X-Y that large, you SURELY need ball-screws, and, per the
engineering-formulae in the BSA catalog, at least 1.5" O.D. screws, preloaded
ball-nuts, to achieve adquate linear speeds!

Did you say 16 mm dia. lead-screws? That is about the right size for a 40 x
75 cm X-Y! Did you say 4 mm pitch? WOW! I used 25.4 mm pitch on the huge
X-Y I built in '85/'86 (for England!), a machine of about the size you say
you want to build. Do the math BEFORE filling-out/mailing the
purchase-orders!

I will now TRY to see if I can find a *.jpg of that I can attach here. This
