No, the power demand is actually LESS!. The current demand is the same. So, for a motor
rated for 1 Amp in unipolar or half-winding connection, you would use 1/2 Amp
PER WINDING in parallel, or the same 1 A per phase. The current splits, with
roughly 1/2 Amp going through each winding.

I seem to remember 8.7 A per phase, but I could be wrong. That may be for the
Superior Electric motors.
