Erie,
There really is no reason to do that. The performance "hit" on half-
winding vs. parallel is less than 2%. This is a near meaningless
difference because it will be washed out or buried by other effects
such as line voltage fluctuation.
The nice thing about 6-wire motors is their no-brainer connection to
a drive. Only one wire per phase as opposed to 2 for parallel and all
it takes is an ohmmeter to tell half-winding apart from full winding
when you have to puzzle-out a mystery motor. Witness the problems
trying to do that with a mystery 8-wire motor.
