I'll tell you what, I do a lot of wood work and the single most
important design consideration in my next shop design is how to
isolate the metal equipment from the wood shop!!
No kidding since I run an 18 inch planer and the table saw that crap
floats every where even with decent dust collection. It sticks, gums
and corrodes every thing in sight. There is dust in everything arghhh.
Think seriously about dust evacuation and a drop wall or similar
method to help isolate the "precision" equipment from the wood shop.
Otherwise you will be cleaning equipment until the cows come home
every time you saw a piece of MDO.
I love wood but crap the stuff gets every where. Perhaps for casual
work it's ok but every time you tear into a good project, poof sticky
moisture collecting crap every where.
Currently I'm working on putting the dust collector OUTSIDE in a
building so I can contain the insidious cloud of crud.
Ok maybe it's not that bad but the stuff is rather a pain so some
planning is required, covers , fans etcÂ…
