OK, I have put the circuit I use between my servo amps and their power
supply on my web page, at : http://ascc.artsci.wustl.edu/~jmelson/EMC.html
It is the second schematic on that page. It contains some stuff specific
to my servo amps, but might be usable to enable your stepper drivers.
I drive this from the parallel port of the PC, using an Opto-22 type SSR.
