The X axis gib adjusting screws on the latest Taig mills are crap!
They are simply grub 1/4" grub screws (set screws if you prefer) down
a 1" thread. The right hand one will probably be loose. You can adjust
it as good as you like, 5 minutes of X moves and it will have loosened
itself and the effect of this is the table jams. It goes to the left
absolutely fine, but locks up going right - only a bit, but enough to
cause lost steps!!
(The threads on the right hand X axis screw on three machines I know
of were stripped!!!)
The simple answer is to throw those crappy grub screws away and fit
long screws with a locking nut as per the Y axis.
From what I gather this is a recent "improvement"!!! How anybody with
an ounce of engineering experience could expect a non locked screw to
hold its position is beyond me!!
It has been passed to Taig as a "bug". Unfortunately no one at Taig
even had the decency to acknowledge the message!
